Thank You Notes

My Mom and I finally got home from the hospital last night. The four days we spent there would have felt like forever if not for the people who not only stood with us in prayer, but also showed us genuine love and care and concern.

To my Uncle Angelo for rushing to our house when it happened and patiently caring and checking on Mom all through out the ordeal and even arranging for us to get the accomodation we needed in the hospital, thank you ever so much. I know you had to get out of your way a couple of times. No words can describe how thankful I am.

To my dearest friend and sister Angela, thank you for being there with me on what seemed to be one of the most stressful moments in my life. Thank you for buying us dinner, for helping me pack the things we would need and carrying it all the way to the hospital although it was raining like crazy, for staying with me during dinner time, for even assisting my Mom when you saw the need to. Your daily text messages asking me if everything is okay sure reminded me that I was not alone in this. And thank you for extending your help up to the day Mom was finally discharged.

To Dadee Alvin and Momee Che, thank you so much for treating us as part of your family. Thank you for going out of your way to go all the way to Camp Panacan just to visit us. Mama was so happy you came with Fiona. We love you so much!

Bela, thank you for being ever so sweet. My Mom and I are so grateful to you for visiting and for even offering us a ride on the day we were supposed to go home.

Julianne, J-Ann, Chelsea, and Abet – Thank you for offering to come to the hospital to look after my Mom so I can go out and do my chores for a night. Although things did not actually go as planned, I’d say it’s really the thought that counts. I love you guys!
(Abet, sorry about the bananas. πŸ˜€ Chelsea, sorry about the chicken. πŸ˜€ You guys know what I mean. πŸ˜‰

Ate Mira Joy, thank you for visiting and for letting me ride with you when I had to go to Victoria Plaza to do some errands. And thank you for the powerful prayer you uttered before you left.

Ptr. Alvin and Jaydee, I can’t imagine you guys commuting all the way to the hospital on a work day (and a busy day at that) just to bring some fruits and really pray for my Mom. Thank you so much. I’m so blessed to be part of the Davao team!

Ate Jade and Tina, I’m surprised distance didn’t stop you guys from visiting. Living in Toril and Talomo meant that going to Panacan is like you guys going on a little field trip or excursion of some sort. πŸ˜€ My Mom and I really enjoyed your company! And Tina, the pomelo you brought was superrrr! πŸ˜€

Nikki, you dropping by every now and then was a breathe of fresh air. Your positivity was put to good use every time. We needed that. Thanks for being an encouragement to me and to my Mom. And thank you for being a nurse to her too. And for the huuuuuuuuge pizza you guys brought for dinner this evening plus the company, thank you!

To Tita Rose, thank you for the flowers! My Mom smiles everytime she sees them. I had them placed in my Mom’s room and she’s enjoying them a lot. Thank you for all the love. It is indeed a blessing to have family around when you need them! I love you Tita! πŸ™‚

Ana and Rho, the physical therapists, I would like to thank you in advance for whatever it is that you’re planning to do to my Mom. πŸ˜› Seriously, I am sooo thankful I have friends like you. You guys make the load a little less heavy. Hugs! (Ana, pa-tag na lang ke Rho. Di pa pala kame friends. :D)

To Ate Mu Bi and Luiz, thank you for treating us as part of your family. You guys are a huge blessing to me and my Mom. I can’t wait to see you both and Tha Tha too.

To Brandon, thank you for the encouragements and for remembering us in prayer. I’ll catch up with you soon!

To the rest of the girls from my Victory Group – Joy, Suey, Leslie, Eden, Shyle – to Arianne, Ate Weng, Kuya Josh and Ate Maybelle, Ate Analyn, Ate Joyce, Sheldon, Kuya Tom, En, Zsariz, Joanna, Tita Neneng, Uncle Lito and Tita Joy, Uncle Wilfred, Uncle Romel, Ate Meyette, Ate Julie and Ptr. Jeremy, Dimple and Bem (the list can go on and on) — basically to all those who called, texted, and prayed for and with us, thank you, thank you, and thank you!

This season may have been difficult but there has been much grace. And amids everything I have learned while taking care of my Mom in the hospital and up until now that she’s home recovering, one of the very things that God has emphasized was the gift of friends and family.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. -James 1:17

Thank you Lord for your healing. Thank you for your provision. Thank you for everything that you have taught me. But more than anything else, thank you for the good and perfect gift of friends and family!
