Purely Personal Pieces

Last Week’s Highlights

There’s too much to write about what happened last week, but I do not have the luxury of time to delve into details. I’m trusting these pictures would do. ๐Ÿ™‚

August 8, Thursday

I took a little road trip with Laurize to General Santos City which is a three-hour bus-ride from Davao. The trip served as our time to catch-up (since I'm already based in Manila and she in Davao) but also so we can further forge our connections with our campus ministry in Gen San.
I took a little road trip with Laurize to General Santos City which is a three-hour bus-ride from Davao. The trip served as our time to catch-up (since I’m already based in Manila and she in Davao) but also so we can further strengthen our connections with our fellow campus ministers there especially now that there are quite a number of high school students who have been reached out and discipled in Gen San who are already studying in Davao for college.
Victory Gen San holds three youth services every week. We attended the Thursday, 5PM service together with around a hundred students and student leaders. It's exciting to see how God is growing our campus ministry in Gen San!

We watched Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters together with the staff and upcoming campus missionaries after the Youth Service. The following day, Ej and Melai took us to the beautiful Club House Kalsangi in Polomolok (about 45-minutes to an hour away from Gen San).

Driving through this road to the club house itself felt like going into Narnia!

Oh, what huge fruits! Club House Kalsangi is actually a huge compound for executives of Dole Philippines. Thank God for connections, we were able to go on a quick day-tour and have brunch there too.

This spot was too beautiful, I couldn't stop myself to have my picture taken with this pine tree-decorated golf course on the background!

This is a huge board of Snakes and Ladders which is similar to the life-size chess board in Marikina. I would've tried playing it if there weren't other people who started playing first!

My Mom and some of the members of her Victory Group have apparently been planning a trip to Buda (that’s about 2 hours and 30 minutes away from Davao City) where one member has a family vacation house. When they learned that I’m home for a few days, they scheduled it last weekend. So, after three hours of being on the bus from Gen San to Davao, I found myself traveling to Buda for another two hours. I wasn’t able to get photos while traveling as it was already dark and a bit foggy while we’re driving.

August 10, Saturday

First thing I did when I woke up in the morning is take a pic with this cute little furball! Seriously, if this puppy were on the floor of a salon, it would easily be mistaken for a pile of hair!

Saturday morning was the only time we got to take a good look around. And man, was the scenery majestic!

So, their family decided to build houses on this mountain and had stairs all the way up!
Also, the family clearly loves colors!

I had to have this picture taken with my Mom at the top of the mountain! I’m so proud she was able to conquer her fear of heights that day. Thanks to the breathtaking view, she forgot she had acrophobia. ๐Ÿ™‚
We also found some wild berries. They looked cool so I took a picture.

After having devotions and prayer with everyone, we left Buda at around 12:30 PM. I, then, had to rush to the center to make it in time for the music team rehearsals at five.

August 11, Sunday

On Sunday I got to lead worship for the 8AM, 10AM, and 4PM services at Victory Davao. It was refreshing to work and volunteer with people I’ve served with before. It was equally great to have worked with new ones as well.

There is indeed no better way to end the week than to praise and worship Him for everything that He has done and is yet to do!

“When I consider your heavens,
ย ย ย ย the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
ย ย ย ย which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
ย ย ย ย human beings that you care for them?”
– Psalm 8:3-4
