Session notes from the recently concluded LifeBox Staff Summit.
Purity and holiness is the core value of the Word of God.
We are not in a pursuit of purity and holiness. We are pursuing God.
We are in a battle for:
Matthew 22: 37-38
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment.
This is about pursuing God. We cannot preach this without doing it.
If you love God, you will hate sin.
Passion for ministry does not equal passion for God.
2 Timothy 2:22
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
What are you pursuing today?
If your motivation is not love then it would just be plain legalism. Your motivation to pursue purity and holiness should always be your love for God. The degree that you love God is the degree that you hate sin.
People who do not have vision cast off restraint.
Practice faithfulness even before you’re married (physical and emotional purity).
1 Timothy 5: 1b-2
Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
Absolute purity extends even in the area of your emotions.
Ephesians 5: 3
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.
What is your vision for your marriage? For your family?
Practice FULL DISCLOSURE. Don’t hide anything.
1 Timothy 4:12
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
Watch your life and doctrine closely. We must be above reproach. Never take your responsibility lightly.
We must have a strong relationship with God (passion for God) and a strong relationship with others (accountability).
Don’t settle for anything less!
