God is in not in the business of rearing up sheltered kids. He is in the business of raising up warriors who will be bold enough to say “I can do this all day” just like Steve Rogers (Captain America’s alter-ego) when he got beat up in an alley in Brooklyn before he went out there to save the world.
It’s not about having something against not giving up. It’s about knowing that once you run away from the battle, it won’t stop anyway so it’s either you run and hide or you start fighting.
Everytime God calls us to stand in the battle, He makes sure that He provides strength for us to endure.
Oh, and by the way, were you not wondering why He just wants us to stand in the battle? He makes us put on all those armor and yet all he asks us to do is stand. Well, here’s what He said to Jehoshaphat way back in the Old Testament:
“Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.” – 2 Chronicles 20:15,17
If you want a newer version, here’s one from Jesus:
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33
He has won the victory. All we have to do is stand – take heart, be in faith, and stand.
