Rewind – Excerpts from Random Quiet Time Notes (January 20, 2009)

Psalm 2: 7, 8, 11, 12b

I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to me, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.
Ask of me and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
Serve the Lord with fear and trembling.
Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.

Reflections on PRAYER

In verse 7, God reassures us that He is our Father and that because we are His sons and daughters, there has to be no room for hesitations within us when we come and present our requests to Him.

We have to always remind ourselves of the truth about our heavenly origins so we can always pray with confidence.

Whether it is because of pride or confidence in ourselves or lack of faith, God knew we will be having trouble with the “Ask” part. But of course. He created us. He should know. That is why He actually asked us to ask Him. And I believe God wants us to be persistent and consistent with our asking. As a disciple-maker, I am amazed that He gave His people the word in verse 8 long before He gave us the Great Commission.
